On March 31 I published a post on this site saying I had contacted everyone and no one had helped. That was just where things stood that day. The reason I'm writing again, three weeks later, is that across these two months of contacting, one thing still hasn't changed: the outcome.

What became clear in those two months is how these organizations see themselves, and how what they put on their homepages is completely unrelated to what they reply when you actually need them.

What I did

I put together a list: anti-discrimination offices, refugee organizations, organizations for people with disabilities, autism organizations, chronic illness organizations, city departments, federal offices, individual advisors. Every entity whose website so much as hints at caring about people in a situation like mine.

I wrote to every one of them, with the same seriousness I've used for years at every door that even seemed to offer a small chance.

A search through my mail for “Behinder” returns 51 results across two months: anti-racism organizations, disability rights organizations, a litigation association, charities, ombuds offices, a federal ministry, and more. Every one was contacted with the same documented file.

What came back

From most: nothing. No automatic acknowledgment, no “thanks, we'll be in touch.” The email disappears, and then there is silence.

From some: the same answer I already got weeks ago. They aren't responsible, I should contact someone else, and the new addresses I then write to aren't responsible either.

An anti-racism organization, March 30, 2026: “We unfortunately have to inform you that we are not responsible for the case as described.” Then a list of other addresses. Each of those redirected too.

A disability rights organization, March 5, 2026: “Unfortunately we cannot support you in this matter.” They recommended specialized legal counsel, without naming one.

Not one organization (in two months, out of a long list) took the case on. None said: “We'll look into this, we'll accompany this, we'll help.”

The categories that count

And here is where it gets absurd, because every one of these organizations has a slogan. “For fairness.” “For inclusion.” “For diversity.” “No one left behind.” “Human rights matter.” “We stand with you.” Some have donation appeals aimed directly at people like me, and some publish annual reports about their commitment to the exact issues my case touches.

I don't think the problem is laziness. The diversity work in this country is real. There are budgets, campaigns, full career paths inside it, posters at Vienna's public buildings, rainbow flags outside corporate offices. Millions of euros pass through all of that every year.

It just does not include people like me.

The difference that gets celebrated is chosen in advance. It is the kind that fits a campaign photo. Someone neurodivergent and foreign at the same time, eleven years in the country, with a file this long, does not fit it. I am outside the selection.

I am not describing a feeling here, I have the replies in writing. Organizations that publish glossy reports about inclusion wrote back that my case is not theirs. Organizations that collect donations for people in vulnerable situations referred me elsewhere. And where fairness would have meant actual work against an institution, no answer came at all.

What I take from this: the visible categories get the budget, and a case like mine does not exist on paper in any way that produces help.

If this isn't a case, whose is?

I'm asking this honestly. If mine isn't the kind of case these organizations exist to handle, whose is?

My case touches every one of their issues at once. In the brochures it would be a perfect fit. In practice nobody answers.

The only honest reading I am left with is that “help” in these programs means the simple case that photographs well, and not the one that actually needs support.

Where I stand

I've exhausted the classic routes: authorities, advice centers, ombudsperson offices, media, paid specialist organizations. The outcome is always the same: silence or a redirect.

In eleven years no one wanted to solve this problem. This site is here to document what's actually happening: in my own words, with the real files, not in the packaged version I'd have to fit elsewhere.

If you read this, share it. That's the only thing I ask.
